Space Patrol (Captain) Starr of Space The Adventures of Rocky

television was its forte, Space Patrol also generated a radio show version with all of the TV series
regulars (Ed Kemmer, Lyn Osborn, Virginia Hewitt & Ken Mayer) appearing
on the very well written radio shows. The Space Patrol Radio Show which often closely followed the TV series in
story-lines could be heard at 10:30 on Saturday mornings whilst the TV shows
were also telecast on Saturdays. As an example the entire 16 episode
run of the Planet X episodes represents a good way to follow the action (on
radio) thereby making up for the missing TV episodes of this story arc. The
radio show commenced with a brief 8 minute introduction Meet Commander
Corry on 4th October 1952. It was
followed by another brief episode in which Happy Meets Buzz Corry. These two episodes are a bit different from the
rest of the series and are probably not part of the series proper (they are
most likely from the 1954 Decca Records release), however they provide a nice
segue to the first (surviving) 30 minute episode "The Hole in Empty
Space" (1952-10-25). A
total of 129 episodes (each of 30 minutes duration) were broadcast with the
last show going to air on 19th March 1955. A
total of 117 episodes (including the two 8 minuters) have survived and are in
quite good condition. The
actor John Larch had a (semi)
regular role on the Space Patrol TV series as Capt. Smith. Surprisingly John
Larch also played the title role in his own radio show: (Captain) Starr of
Space. This 1953/'54 30 minute
stand-alone space adventure show was quite similar to Space Patrol.
Unfortunately only 5 episodes each of 30 minutes duration, have survived. Although
almost a namesake for the US series (Captain) Starr of Space, Rocky Starr is an somewhat different radio character. The
Adventures of Rocky Starr was a
1950s Australian production
featuring the interplanetary adventures of daredevil Rocky Starr and his intrepid team of Mitch Morgan and Anne Vernon aboard The Blue Streak spaceship. The
15 minute continuing serial format provided for an immensely popular series
of 11 adventures spread across more than a 1000 episodes. Whilst
Trev has restored a complete adventure (of 52 episodes), he is not permitted
to offer it to the general public. He has however restored a set of 10
consecutive episodes of another adventure which can be released. As
such find here, the last 10 episodes of the Destination: Venus
adventure - an exciting story in which Rocky and his friends help the
Venusians in battle against the evil dictator, Gorg and his radio-controlled
robots (itŐs a good listen and one can easily pick up the story) Want
